All the World's a Stage
1996
Oil on Linen, 16"x20"
This painting was done shortly after I completed my studies at the Mitchell School of Fine Art in Baltimore, MD.
The statues seen in the still life were chosen from among the props I used at my studio in Periwinkle Place in Havre de Grace, MD.
The composition depicts multiple statues, each as an independent figure from the others.
Fresh Produce
2020
Pastel on Paper, 12"x18"
This is a pastel painting prepared as a demonstration in a Still Life workshop held in Harford County, Maryland.
Vegetables were selected to show that interest can be found in ordinary objects via their placement in a composition, their textures, and their colors.
Red Hibiscus No. 2
2019
Oil on Linen, 11"x14"
The vivid cadmium reds of the Hibiscus blooms appear in striking contrast to the cool colors in the background. The bright white of the shell offers a strong value contrast to the deep cadmium and alizarin crimson in the blooms. Hibiscus bloom almost year-round in Florida.
